Safety-switch diagnosis & testing

We investigate and repair safety-switch and RCD faults in Perth. Repeated tripping can involve a circuit or connected equipment as well as the switch itself. Our licensed electricians assess the cause, explain the repair and provide a written quote before you approve the work.
Call 0413 477 667 Book safety-switch and rcd repairA protective device that keeps tripping needs investigation. Tell us which areas have lost power and whether anything changed before the problem started. We check the relevant circuits and connections; do not force the switch on or try to recreate the fault.
We check whether the fault involves connected equipment, fixed wiring or the protective device. Tripping alone cannot identify the cause. We explain the findings and recommend repairs to the affected parts rather than assuming a new switch will solve the problem.
If the problem extends beyond recurring safety-switch trips, our electrical fault investigation service can assess broader power loss. Tell us which rooms are affected and what you noticed; you do not need a technical diagnosis to enquire.

Our electrician reviews when the fault occurs, the affected circuits and safe access to the equipment. We investigate whether the repair involves a connection, wiring, a device or another identified fault. The written quote reflects the findings, rather than assuming the switch has failed.
Device replacement and circuit alterations are different jobs. Before approval, we list the parts, any extra access and circuit work needed. If the fault involves appliance repairs outside the agreed fixed-wiring work, we explain what needs a separate service.
After the repair, we carry out the relevant checks and explain the result and any remaining concerns. Our guide to a safety switch that keeps tripping explains what to report before a visit. It does not replace an on-site assessment or ask you to open electrical equipment.
Routine safety-switch testing and fault finding serve different needs. The test button checks whether an RCD operates; we also provide instrument testing for an agreed scope. See our RCD testing and property records for scheduled checks. For repeated tripping or a switch that will not stay on, book a fault assessment on this page.
Send any requested report or work-order requirements before booking. We confirm the devices, checks, access arrangements and records included in the quote. Repairing or replacing one switch does not certify the whole electrical installation.
An RCD detects current imbalance associated with leakage. A circuit breaker protects against overload or short circuit; some devices combine both functions. A trip can be caused by the circuit or connected equipment, so we assess the actual device and fault before recommending replacement.
Rain-related trips or interruptions during washing-machine use provide context for the investigation. Do not bypass protection or repeatedly reset a device that trips again. Scheduled RCD checks and a requested property record are arranged separately from repair of a reported tripping fault.

No. They provide different types of protection. If you are unsure which device tripped, tell us which rooms are affected and any label you can read safely. Our electrician identifies the device and the checks needed.
We assess the affected circuit, connected equipment and protective device to identify the cause. We explain the findings and quote for the required repair or replacement; replacing the switch alone may not resolve a fault elsewhere in the installation.
Send the suburb, the areas affected, whether the device trips repeatedly or will not stay on, and any recent changes. Do not open the switchboard to obtain model information. Our local team covers all six service regions from our office at 140 St Georges Terrace, Perth WA 6000.
Call us or use the enquiry form to describe the problem or installation you need. We can assess the technical details when we discuss the job.
